How often AI answer engines name a company when a buyer asks who to consider in its category, and whether they cite its own pages when they do. It is measured as a share of recorded answers, weighted by position in the list and by citation, across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.
What it is not
It is not search ranking. A page can rank first on Google and be absent from the AI answer, because the answer was written from a roundup that does not list the company. It is not brand awareness; a company everyone in the trade knows can be absent from the engines' shortlists if the pages the engines read do not name it.
How it is scored here
Every buyer question goes to every engine. An answer naming the company scores by position, first named counting most, and by whether the company's own site was cited. The score is the weighted share across all answers, out of 100, with the engines that returned no answer left out of the denominator and named in the report's header.
